Description

Ability to complete start-up and commissioning, including but not limited to point-to-point checkout on projects as assigned. This position requires employee to complete controls databases, graphics, programming, etc. for sequences as provided by the design specialist, project specifications, or other applicable sources.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide service support on existing installations ensuring systems continue to meet existing building occupancy codes.
  • Provide service support on existing systems insuring their proper and efficient operation as well as providing ongoing support to the facility’s building engineers.
  • Programming of Control Systems and Integration with other systems related to building automation.
  • Start - up of control systems relating to building automation.
  • Commissioning of control systems relating to building automation.
  • Required to be well versed in multiple controls systems as they may be on a different site each day based on the service calls that come in on a daily basis.
  • Communication directly with the customer in order to satisfy the needs regarding the specifics of what is required to solve the issue on a particular site.
  • Document the services performed on a service call on a FSR (Field Service Report) with details of what the service call consisted of and to document if the call is complete or will require a follow up visit.
  • Replace failed parts, controllers, wire, relays, and devices that they have found to have failed. In the event that the customer does not have the parts on site it is up to the System Specialist to document on the FSR what is failed if they do not have the part on their truck.
  • Maintain a good disposition with the customers and deal with them in a courteous manner at all times.
  • Verify devices, panels, and annunciators of controls projects.
  • Ensure timely software backups are created for projects and software development.
  • Complete time sheets, service work orders, and other paperwork required for this position in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of high school diploma.
  • Minimum of two years industry experience
  • Two year technical degree in HVAC or Electronics related studies preferred. An undergraduate degree in Electrical or Mechanical related studies is excellent.
  • Other technical experience such as military, on the job training programs, etc. may meet this requirement as determined by local management.
  • Background in temperature building automation and controls
  • Must be service minded and customer focused
  • An understanding of computer operating systems including MS Office Suite of products.
  • The ability to configure and debug computer and networking problems.
  • Background in Niagara Tridium, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Automated Logic Controls, Alerton, a plus.
  • Must have basic understanding of programing DDC controls
  • A clear ability to work with electronic equipment such as volt meters, amp meters, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • The ability to troubleshoot basic electric and electronic circuitry including reading and interpreting electrical and electronic diagrams.
  • A working understanding of AC power circuitry including breakers, multi-phase power, etc. (120VAC and greater)
  • Clear and concise ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • An ability to understand empathetically the issues and perceptions others have and to creatively and successfully work through these issues to achieve a successful outcome and customer and employee satisfaction.
  • A thorough understanding of HVAC operations within a facility.
